— As the main federal party leaders engaged in verbal fisticuffs en français in the first debate, Justin Trudeau was put on defensive footing as each of his opponents painted him as opportunistic for calling the pandemic election that no one (but he) wanted. When asked if he’d work in a coalition, he even said Canadians could return to the polls in just 18 months if there’s another minority.
