Nihtat Gwich’in Council denounces damage to Inuvik sign – Cabin Radio

The Nihtat Gwich’in Council says it considers damage to a Gwich’in territorial sign on the edge of Inuvik to be a “hate-motivated act and a direct attack on NGC’s rights in its own homeland.”

The council circulated images on Monday that appeared to show the large sign in multiple pieces near the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway, beside which it previously stood.

Exactly what had happened to the sign was not immediately clear.
