Petes to honour Indigenous culture and history with Heritage Night celebration – PTBO Today
Feb 27, 2025
The Peterborough Petes will honour Indigenous culture and history on Thursday night as they host their annual Indigenous Heritage Night at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. The event, presented by Crowe’s Gas, will take place during the team’s matchup against the Windsor Spitfires, with puck drop set for 7:05 pm.
A key visual element of the night is a special logo created by Kory Parkin, an Indigenous artist from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. The design incorporates the name “Nogojiwanong,” the traditional Anishinaabe name for Peterborough, meaning “place at the foot of the rapids.” The logo also features a canoe and water, symbolizing the area’s significance as a prime fishing spot.
