SAY Magazine’s 2014 Economic Development Issue is now Available
SAY MAGAZINE’S 2014 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ISSUE IS NOW AVAILABLE.
When discussing the economic impact of businesses, the main focus has been on large companies and employers. However, it is the small businesses and tribally owned enterprises which have a more immediate and direct economic impact in our Native community.
Regardless of the studies done in both Canada and the USA, it is agreed that the number of Aboriginal/Native American business owners and entrepreneurs is growing at a rate that far exceeds that for self-employed Canadians/Americans overall.
Additionally, the number and impact of Native Community Development Corporations are often overlooked.
Small businesses are responsible for approximately half of the jobs in both countries, and is probably a higher percentage in our Native communities. The importance of creating employment and economic stability cannot be stressed enough.
By providing examples of events, small businesses, and tribal owned businesses, this issue of SAY Magazine will focus on resources and successes which have had an important impact on economic development for our communities.
