The Indigenous peoples of Splatsin held a conference to highlight their plan to integrate Indigenous children back into their communities.

Many of the children are dealing with cultural disconnection, which detaches the children from their Indigenous heritage.

“If you look back at the residential schools and the 60’s Scoop you can see how this can happen,” says Wayne Christian, Tribal Chief of Splatsin Kukpi7. “There are actually more children in the foster system now than there were in the residential school era, so we think it’s time we do something.”
