The Squamish Nation proposal provides new housing and economic development but critics worry about traffic, schools, health care in congested areas
A narrow dirt path, winding through a thin strip of woods beside a major North Vancouver road, leads to Wilson Williams’ home, where the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh councillor is raising his three young daughters.
Williams hopes this patch of land will also lead to prosperity for the Squamish Nation, which is embarking on an ambitious plan on the North Shore and in the District of Squamish to develop a total of 153 acres, which is about 62 hectares or roughly 62 full-sized soccer fields.
