Starting at 11 a.m. in Gyro Park, the all-ages celebration will feature cultural performances and family-friendly fun
After cleaning up the roadside for Adopt a Highway on Saturday, members of the Kootenay South Métis Society are turning their focus to another community event — Indigenous Peoples Day, happening Sunday, June 22.
Starting at 11 a.m. in Gyro Park, the all-ages celebration will feature cultural performances, live music, artisans, food, and family-friendly offerings.
This year’s featured guest is Fergus Dalton, a well-known Métis jig dancer and instructor from Vancouver. Dalton began jigging at a young age under the guidance of Métis artist Lisa Shepherd as part of her Maple Sugar Jiggers youth troupe.
