Team BC Announces Rosters for 2025 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships

Traditional Territory of the Quw’utsun (Cowichan) Tribes / Duncan B.C. (April 7, 2025) – The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I∙SPARC) is pleased to announce the players and volunteer personnel who will represent British Columbia in the 2025 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC). The NAHC will be hosted on the traditional territories of Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc in Kamloops, BC, from May 4-11^th, 2025. This marks the third time the championships have been held in British Columbia.

I·SPARC hosted its Team BC Player Selection Camp from March 28-30^th, 2025 in Burnaby, B.C. at the newly built multiplex, Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre. Over 150 elite Indigenous men’s and women’s hockey players participated in the three-day process. From the camp, twenty men and twenty women were selected to play for Team BC. These players will not only represent BC, but they will also proudly represent their Indigenous Nations and communities at this prestigious national championship.

This year’s roster showcases the best Indigenous hockey players from across the province, continuing our program’s long history of success,” said Rick Brant, CEO of I·SPARC. “Competing for two national titles in Kamloops, on the territory of Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc, is an incredible opportunity, and we are excited to see our two teams compete in front of a passionate home crowd.”

During the 2024 Championships in Grande Prairie, Alberta; both BC’s teams were awarded bronze medals for their efforts. One year later, both teams have their sights-set on medal contention, as they compete against the best First Nations, Inuit, and Métis hockey players across the country.

The NAHC, founded by the Aboriginal Sport Circle and sanctioned by Hockey Canada, is the premier forum for elite U18-age Indigenous hockey players from across Canada. It is the only annual national event that showcases and celebrates the athletic abilities of Indigenous athletes from across the country, and aids in fostering cultural unity and pride.
