Distributions of household economic accounts for income, consumption, saving and wealth of Canadian households, second quarter 2025
The income gap remained at a record high in the second quarter of 2025, unchanged from the previous year, amid a weakening economy that negatively affected household income and net saving across the income distribution. The wealth gap grew as strong financial market gains benefited the wealthiest.
Study: Financial Ratios for Universities, 2016/2017 to 2022/2023
The financial and economic environment in which Canadian universities operate has evolved in the last two decades, marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and the increased reliance on international student tuition fees as a source of revenue. Today, Statistics Canada is releasing a new feasibility study on financial ratios for Canadian universities using data from Statistics Canada’s Financial Information of Universities Survey from 2016/2017 to 2022/2023. This study can shed light on financial pressures universities have faced.
Provisional death counts, January 2023 to July 2025
Today’s release includes new and updated adjusted counts of death from the Canadian Vital Statistics Death Database, covering the period from January 7, 2023, to August 2, 2025. The Provisional Deaths in Canada Dashboard, which provides the most recent insights on mortality trends, as well as interactive data visualization tools, has been updated.
