Praying for peace for all people is a common practice for most religions and according to Darius Ferris, board president for Matawa First Nations Management, there is no better time than right now to do just that.
“Because of the concern we have of systemic racism and also stereotype racism, we stepped up and asked the people of faith within the city to come together to pray for the safety of the people of First Nations and every other race here in Thunder Bay,” said Ferris.
“(This is) so that there can be peace among us, peace among ourselves, peace among the people in different cultures and races.”
Ferris helped organize the Unity Walk from Friendship Gardens to Thunder Bay City Hall on Tuesday.
