The oldest living Indigenous veteran of the Six Nations of the Grand River, Welby “Ike” Isaacs, will be honoured June 23 by the Lauren Bruner Foundation in Hamilton with the first USS Arizona Medal of Freedom.

A traditional blessing ceremony is scheduled to take place at CanmetMATERIALS on Longwood Road in honour of the 1,512 crew members of the USS Arizona on Dec. 7, 1941, including six Canadians.
