Vancouver 2010 Indigenous Youth Gathering Now Accepting Applications

Vancouver, BC (September 4, 2009) – The Vancouver 2010 Indigenous Youth Gathering is looking for youth (19-29 years of age) for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate and perform in cultural activities in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.The Four Host First Nations and VANOC will bring together more than 300 Canadian First Nations, Inuit and Métis youth in Vancouver from Jan. 30 to Feb. 14, 2010. In addition to culture, programming for the Gathering will focus on healthy living, sport, leadership, sustainability and the Olympic Truce. Guest speakers will include Olympians and Paralympians, Aboriginal athletes and other role models.

Participation is on a non-paid, volunteer basis; transportation, accommodation and meals will be provided by VANOC, the FHFN, the Government of Canada and Provincial/Territorial governments.

Youth can apply online @ www.2010iyg.com. Photos of youth in full regalia (no European clothing) must be received in order to be considered.

Application deadline is September 30th, 2009.
