Wayne Bourque – Canadian Boxer and Owner of the Boxercise Centre Ring
On today’s show we have Wayne Bourque. Wayne was born in Lac La Biche, Alberta from humble Métis beginnings. His father put him in boxing at age 13 after a spree of racial attacks and bullying.
Wayne went on to become a 3-time North American Native Champion, 4 time Golden Glove Winner, 4 time Provincial Champion (Alberta), Canadian National Champion and Ringside World Masters Champion.
Wayne was inducted into the Wood Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame in 2012 & is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Regional Aboriginal Recognition Awards (RARA).
Wayne currently owns and operates Centre Ring a boxing gym in Toronto that delivers his signature program. Centre Ring has been operational since 1994 and is now launching an online program teaching people how to box from home during the lockdown.
