Agreement includes Mi’kmaw bands from southwestern Newfoundland and researchers from 5 countries

Several Indigenous First Nations in southwestern Newfoundland have signed what they call a historic agreement with Memorial University and international partners to research ways to reduce waste in the province’s fishing industry.

The Marine Biomass Innovation Project aims to develop sustainable marine-based entrepreneurship while researching ways to reduce waste in the fishing industry and the repurposing of Newfoundland’s marine biomass.
