Description
General
Sagamok Anishnawbek is inviting proposals to conduct a Technical Feasibility Study for a facility that will provide office and programming space for First Nations Child and Family Services (FNCFS) and/or Jordan’s Principle.

In January 2016, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal determined that “Canada’s provision of First Nations child and family services and Jordan’s Principle was discriminatory on the prohibited grounds of race and national or ethnic origin.” Five years later, in November 2021, the Tribunal issued decision 2021 CHRT 41: First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada et al. v. Attorney General of Canada. This decision established the basis for Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) to create a funding program specifically aimed at addressing capital infrastructure needs. Under CHRT 41, Canada is required to fund the planning, purchase, and construction of capital assets for the delivery of FNCFS and services under Jordan’s Principle.
