Local native leaders share thoughts on sustainable communities – The Daily Gleaner

Aboriginal leaders from across Canada and around the world will descend on Charlottetown this week for a conference on community planning.

Entitled Community Journeys: Pathways to a Sustainable Future, the conference aims to promote long-term sustainability among First Nations communities by promoting economic development through a series of workshops, trade shows and keynote speeches.

Noah Augustine is the co-chairman of the Atlantic Policy Congress of First Nations Chief’s Secretariat and Chief of Metepenagiag Mi’kmaq First Nation in Red Bank.

He said the conference serves as a forum for aboriginal leaders to share success stories and work toward future growth.

“We’re bringing together some of the major success stories from within Atlantic Canada,” said Augustine.
