Roots and Renewal: Indigenous Narratives of Home and Identity

Roots and Renewal: Indigenous Narratives of Home and Identity Date and time Starts on Thursday, October 16 · 7:30pm PDT Location Langham Court Theatre 805 Langham Court Victoria, BC V8V 4J3 Canada

About this event

How do memory, family, and land shape the stories we tell—and the futures we imagine? Join a powerful lineup of Indigenous authors whose work spans poetry, memoir, fiction, and visual storytelling as they explore the many ways home and identity intersect. From 1960s reserves to contemporary urban landscapes, these creators chart narratives of cultural resilience and personal renewal. Each voice offers a distinct perspective—grounded in language, place, and community—yet a shared thread runs through: the act of reflecting on the past to reimagine the future. This conversation celebrates the richness and diversity of Indigenous expression and the ways story becomes both a bridge and a lifeline. Each of these authors reminds us that narrative is not just a form of memory but a living practice of cultural continuity. Come ready for an evening that honours Indigenous history while illuminating the creative possibilities ahead.
