Chief Financial Controller

(previously Band Finance Manager)

The Wiikwemkoong Coordinated Financial Services Unit (CFSU) is seeking applications from qualified individuals to apply for the position of Chief Financial Controller, previously titled Band Finance Manager. Working under the direction of the Director of Finance, this role is responsible for operations and direct oversight of the CFSU management team which includes Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and general finance.

The responsibilities within this position are flexible and may be adjusted according to community and organizational needs and priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the CFSU management team ensuring effective and efficient performance of team.
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports as required.
• Prepare and maintain the annual operating budget and financial forecasting.
• Ensure the accuracy of financial transactions within the general ledger.
• Ensure WUT Finance and Personnel policies are adhered too.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory governing and accounting bodies, such Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Coordinate the annual audit process and year end activities.
• Maintain accounting systems and processes for the CFSU.
• Develop workplans that align with Council strategic plans and community needs.
• Effectively maintain internal relationships and actively participate in collaborative meetings to
  achieve organizational goals.

REQUIREMENTS

• Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
• Certified Aboriginal Financial Management (CAFM) designation, or willing to obtain.
• Minimum five years financial management experience.
• Technical accounting skills and experience in financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and other financial management software.
• Proactive problem solver with excellent conflict resolution skills.
• Must have excellent communication skills in English and operational understanding of Anishinaabemowin.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: Grade 11, Step 1 $121,743
