FREDERICTON – More than $58 million will be invested to support 56 projects under the 2025-26 Climate Change Fund.

“We are committed to driving innovation and championing made-in-New Brunswick solutions to ensure our province is sustainable today and for generations to come,” said Environment and Climate Change Minister Gilles LePage. “These projects will effectively help address climate change and significantly reduce our carbon footprint.”

The fund offers financial support to initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting educational opportunities and enhancing the province’s ability to cope with the effects of climate change. It encourages local, climate-focused solutions to advance the Climate Change Action Plan, which guides the province’s efforts to achieve its greenhouse gas reduction target for 2030 and reach net zero by 2050.

The selected projects support one or more of these initiatives:

  • Greenhouse gas reduction, limitation, avoidance or capturing (climate change mitigation).
  • Adaptation to future climate conditions (climate change adaptation).
  • Mitigation of the economic and social impact of greenhouse gas emission reduction efforts (for example, low-income energy efficiency programming).
  • Public education, outreach and engagement related to climate change.
  • Researching, developing and demonstrating measures that may lead to greenhouse gas emission reductions or adaptation to future climate conditions.
  • Development of climate change policy and the measurement, tracking and reporting of climate change initiatives.

A list of projects is available online.

The 2023-24 Climate Change Action Plan Progress Report, which is now available online, provides an overview of the progress being made to protect the environment. It highlights key achievements, ongoing initiatives and a continued commitment to building a sustainable future across all priority areas.
