Today, SaskTel announced that it is now accepting applications for the 2025 SaskTel Indigenous Youth Awards of Excellence. First established in 1997 as a partnership between SaskTel and the Wicihitowin Foundation, the SaskTel Indigenous Youth Awards of Excellence celebrate outstanding achievements of young Indigenous people across Saskatchewan.

“The SaskTel Indigenous Youth Awards of Excellence highlight the remarkable talents, leadership, and contributions of these young individuals,” said Charlene Gavel, SaskTel President and CEO. “We are proud to stand alongside the Wicihitowin Foundation in recognizing and honoring the unique abilities and extraordinary accomplishments of Indigenous youth. Their dedication and resilience inspire us all, and we look forward to cheering them on as they work to build a brighter future for themselves, their communities, and our province as whole.”

The awards recognize youth achievement in five categories:

  • Outstanding Academic Achievement
  • Leadership – Culture & Community
  • Sports & Recreation
  • Arts & Science

“The SaskTel Indigenous Youth Awards aim to provide recipients with the confidence and encouragement needed to move forward and achieve great success in their post-secondary education and careers,” said Fawn Redwood, SaskTel Indigenous Engagement Manager. “This year marks the 27th edition of the awards, and it’s incredible to think about how many lives they’ve touched. It’s truly an honour to see past winners thrive and succeed as they work to achieve their personal and academic goals.”

To be eligible for an award, participants must be of First Nations, Metis, or Inuit ancestry. Participants must also be between the ages of 14 and 18 (by December 31, 2024) and able to demonstrate outstanding commitment and/or ability in one of the award categories.

To apply for an award, or nominate a deserving young Indigenous person, please submit your application on SaskTel’s website at the link below. All applications must be received by April 18, 2025.
