B.C. health authority backs harm reduction on B.C. OD anniversary

B.C.’s First Nations Health Authority says fewer Indigenous people died of a toxic drug overdose last year compared with 2023. However, the authority’s top doctor says it is not the time to pull back on life-saving measures. Dr. Nel Wieman says First Nations people are disproportionately represented among the death toll as B.C. marks the ninth anniversary of the overdose crisis being declared a public health emergency.
