Red Sky Performance’s Backbone presents a contemporary Indigenous dance performance.

Red Sky Performance is one of Canada’s leading companies creating contemporary Indigenous performance in Canada. Founded in 2000 by Sandra Laronde, originally from Teme-Augama-Anishinaabe (People of the Deep Water) in Temapgami, northern Ontario, Red Sky has since had hundreds of performances across Canada and around the world. In November, thanks to Live Art Dance’s exciting new season, Backbone will be in Halifax for one night only at the Spatz Theatre.

It’s a piece “inspired by the ‘spine’ of the continents, charting the vast and rocky terrain of our human landscape.” It features eight dancers, a musician, and performances described as “pure athleticism”. Backbone is bound to be an impressive offering from this award-winning Toronto-based company.
