The Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) has provided more than $5.08 million to support infrastructure projects across the Yukon between March and August 2025.

The Government of Canada’s CCBF is a permanent source of infrastructure funding for Yukon First Nations, municipalities and unincorporated communities. The Government of Yukon administers the fund.

Recipients receive a designated amount of funding each year and decide how to allocate it based on their local priorities. The funding can be used across 19 eligible categories, such as recreation, local roads and bridges, wastewater infrastructure and drinking water systems.

Highlights from recently accepted CCBF projects include:

  • Champagne and Aishihik First Nation – The Williams Street Servicing Infrastructure Expansion project will see upgrades to water and sanitation infrastructure on Williams and Jackson Streets in the Village of Haines Junction.
  • City of Dawson – The Landfill Upgrades – Scales project prepares the Quigley Waste Management Facility for future infrastructure improvements, supporting enhanced waste management and operational efficiency.
  • City of Whitehorse – The Transportation Corridor Improvements will see the detailed design for improvements at the Two Mile Hill and Industrial Road intersection to enhance traffic flow and safety for active transportation users.
  • Old Crow – The Old Crow Lagoon Improvements raises the south-eastern berm to the same height, improving flood resiliency and upgrades to the septic system.

With support from the Canada Community-Building Fund, we’re continuing to work with Yukon First Nations, municipalities and unincorporated communities on building vibrant communities all across the territory. Thank you to the Government of Canada for these incredible projects that help create more spaces where Yukoners can thrive.
