Carney says speedier development requires Indigenous partners – APTN News

Mark Carney, who has pledged to speed up approvals for energy and resource projects, says it won’t happen without Indigenous Peoples.
“I’ve got extensive experience. This is not just a concept to me. I have been involved in major energy projects for over three decades in the private sector,” he told CTV following his cabinet announcement on May 13, which included the appointment of three Indigenous ministers.
“So I’ve got that experience. Bringing the provinces, working with Indigenous partners, putting in place—as we have—billions of dollars of financing for those Indigenous partners,” Carney said.
“Indigenous people have to come along for almost all of these projects for them to actually work.”
