At Accreditation Canada, we are honoured to work alongside the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis families and communities in advancing the principles of Truth and Reconciliation in the design and delivery of health and social services.
This video highlights the voices and experiences of five Indigenous health centres, some beginning their quality improvement journey through Accreditation Canada’s Primer program, others long-time organizations accredited within the Qmentum Global™ program.
Featured organizations:
Wagmatcook Health Centre (Nova Scotia) – the first Indigenous organization accredited under Qmentum Global™ for Indigenous Health and Wellness.
We’koqma’q Theresa Cremo Memorial Health Centre (Nova Scotia) – recognized for timely mental health care and continuous improvement since 2012.
Battle River Treaty 6 Health Centre (Saskatchewan) – the first Indigenous-controlled health centre in Canada, serving four Nations: Lucky Man Cree Nation, Sweetgrass First Nation, Little Pine First Nation, and Poundmaker First Nation. Their accreditation journey started in 2003.
Seabird Island Health Centre (British Columbia) – delivers a wide range of health and community services. Their accreditation journey began in 2003.
These stories show how accreditation can reinforce culturally safe, community-driven care, while supporting staff and honouring traditions.
