Federal directive recognizes Inuit treaties and final agreements

The new cabinet directive implementing the Inuit Nunangat Policy shows that the federal government is beginning to recognize its responsibility and obligations to meaningfully implement Inuit treaties and final agreements.
Announced on Feb. 6, the directive requires federal departments and agencies to comply with the policy. It outlines clear roles, responsibilities and measures to track progress and results. This is another step forward for Inuit self-determination. [Read the Inuit Nunangat Policy]
