Vancouver, BC – January 20, 2025 – Research papers highlighting recent Geoscience BC minerals and energy research project and scholarship student activities are now available in the Summary of Activities 2024 volume.

Summary of Activities 2024 (Geoscience BC Report 2025-01) contains ten technical papers from the Geoscience BC Scholarship Program 2024 recipients and an ongoing Geoscience BC project. Seven papers focus on Critical Minerals and Metals research in BC, including student-led research at Camp Creek, Kwanika, Turnagain and the Atlin area, and carbonitate and pegmatite research in southeastern BC. Two student-led Cleaner Energy papers examine the mineralogy of the Montney Basin and the thermal history of the Liard Basin in northeast BC. The final paper highlights the upcoming Northeast BC Granite Wash Geological Carbon Capture and Storage Atlas.

Geoscience BC extends its sincere thanks to all the authors and reviewers of the Summary of Activities papers for their valuable contributions, as well as to RnD Technical for their expertise in editing and assembling this volume.

We also appreciate the ongoing support of all our members—corporate, individual, associate, and student—as well as our project sponsors and advocates, whose contributions are vital to Geoscience BC’s independent public geoscience initiatives.

Special thanks to Teck Resources Limited for sponsoring the 2024 Geoscience BC Scholarship Program, and to the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia, Canadian Discovery Ltd., and the Kamloops Exploration Group for their continued support of this volume.

Finally, Geoscience BC would like to express our appreciation for the leaders and volunteers in British Columbia’s mineral exploration, mining, clean energy and geological carbon storage sectors who support our organization through their guidance and their use and recognition of the data and information that we collect and publish.
