Government of Yukon provides funding to 19 community projects supporting Yukon youth
November 19, 2024
The Government of Yukon is dedicated to supporting the vital role of youth in shaping the future of the territory, providing $74,900 in funding to 19 community projects through the Youth Investment Fund.
The Youth Investment Fund provides financial support to short-term projects aimed at youth under 19 years of age, especially those with fewer opportunities to join extracurricular activities, as well as those who may experience discrimination.
This funding supports a range of artistic and recreational activities, such as:
- Judo and rock wall activities in Carcross
- Music programs in Carcross, Dawson, Teslin, Watson Lake and Whitehorse
- Young Riders ski and snowboard program
- Japanese Kids Club
- Cultural drumming and painting project for Faro and Ross River
- First Assist hockey program in Teslin
Projects funded through the program help provide Yukon youth with healthy opportunities to build self-esteem, make positive lifestyle choices and join social or recreational activities.
We know extracurricular activities and recreational programs help to inspire, educate and help young people gain confidence and connect with their communities. That’s why our government is committed to uplifting youth and supporting impactful community organizations through the Youth Investment Fund. Year after year, the recipients demonstrate their innovation and dedication as they deliver invaluable programs and experiences for Yukon’s youth. Thank you to all the recipients for their incredible work and contributions to our communities.
