Grand Council Treaty #3 and Gaakinawataagizod Vandermeer stands in solidarity with the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and Grand Chief Kyra Wilson in expressing our outrage over the horrific attack and attempted abduction of a Buffalo Point First Nations woman in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

In alignment with the 231 Calls for Justice from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, we seek a comprehensive investigation and tangible measures to address the ongoing violence that disproportionately affects First Nations women, girls and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

“It is imperative that we amplify our voices and remain united in our efforts to protect our people. The safety and well-being of Anishinaabe women, girls and Two-Spirit individuals is a fundamental right that must be upheld; our families and their loved ones deserve no less,” said Gaakinawataagizod Vandermeer.

We urge the public to remain vigilant, and for anyone with any information to come forward.
