Grassy Narrows First Nation filed a lawsuit against the Ontario provincial and Canadian federal governments on Tuesday.
The Nation, located about 90 kilometres Northwest of Dryden, Ont., is seeking justice for their claims of mercury poisoning in nearby river systems.
“Our people continue to eat the fish that’s in the river. We keep hoping that one day the river will be cleaned up,” Grassy Narrows Chief Rudy Turtle said.
Global’s Jaden Lee-Lincoln reports on the next steps.
