The community is invited to join the Devon Indigenous Relations Advisory Committee and the Town of Devon on Monday, April 28, for a Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) gathering.
“The Town of Devon has a commitment to reconciliation, and they have a budget for reconciliation and Indigenous events,” said committee member Aimee Movold. “We just find the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives to be such an important topic. It’s about educating the public and bringing community together.”
Taking place at River of Hope Church, the free event will get underway at 4:30 and run through 9 p.m. The evening features a pipe ceremony (4:30), dinner (5:30), and guest speakers (6:30) before wrapping up with drumming and powwow dancers.
