Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services (OAHS), in partnership with Niwasa Kendaaswin Teg, De dwa da dehs nye>s Aboriginal Health Centre, and the City of Hamilton, is excited to invite community members to an upcoming Community Open House about the Biindigen Well-Being Centre.

This collaborative and innovative Indigenous-led initiative aims to establish a new Well-Being Centre in Hamilton’s McQuesten neighbourhood. The Centre will provide integrated health, family, social, and housing services to better support the community.

Event Details
Date: Wednesday, February 5, 2025
Time: 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM (drop-in format)
Location: Sir Winston Churchill Recreation Centre, Club Room A
1709 Main Street East, Hamilton, ON L8H 1E3

The Open House will be a drop-in event featuring information boards and team members available to answer questions. No formal presentation will be made.

This event builds on the success of the Neighbourhood Open House & Barbecue held on September 12, 2024. Since then, the site and building designs have evolved significantly, and the purpose of this second Open House is to share these updates with the community. Attendees will have the opportunity to review preliminary designs, learn about proposed Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment applications, and provide feedback directly to the Biindigen Partners, design team, and City of Hamilton representatives.

The Biindigen Well-Being Centre will include:

  • Up to 100 housing units
  • A medical clinic
  • A daycare

These features reflect the Centre’s commitment to meeting the needs of the McQuesten neighbourhood and creating a space where community well-being is prioritized.
