MEDIA ADVISORY – BC First Nations gather in Vancouver to hear from climate change experts and discuss community impacts; Dr. David Suzuki to provide keynote address

(xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh)/VANCOUVER, BC, April 4, 2025  – First Nations leaders and representatives will in Vancouver, at the invitation of the First Nations Summit, to participate in the BC First Nations Climate Gathering taking place on April 7^th and 8^th at the Musqueam Community Centre.

Participants will hear from numerous climate change experts about the changes that we need to prepare for and about what the impacts of climate change will mean for BC First Nations traditional territories, citizens, cultures and ways of life.

The two-day gathering will begin with a keynote by renowned scientist, broadcaster and environmentalist, Dr. David Suzuki. Media are invited to attend Dr. Suzuki’s keynote address to the gathering.

When:	Monday April 7, 2025
9:15 – 10:15 am –	Keynote address by Dr. David Suzuki Media are welcome to attend the keynote address, an audio feed will be provided. No questions from media during this portion of the event.
10:30 – 10:50 am –	Dr. Suzuki and representatives of the First Nations Summit Political Executive will be available for questions from media in a side room following the  keynote address.

Note: Dr Suzuki is participating in the First Nations Climate Gathering as an elder, a grandfather and as an individual. His participation in the gathering, his keynote address and any comments made to media, are his own and in no way associated with the David Suzuki Foundation or any other organization or association.
