The Mi’gmawei Mawiomi Business Corporation (MMBC) and Innergex Renewable Energy, proud 50-50 partners in the Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n 2 wind energy project, have received the official go-ahead!

Following approval from our Shareholders (Mi’gmaweiMawiomi Resources Limited Partnership – MMRLP) and our Board of Directors, we affirm our inherent rights to develop safe renewable energy projects on our lands. While this is a 50-50 partnership, we respect both Mi’gmaq governance and Quebec’s regulatory processes. In that context, the Quebec Council of Ministers has issued its governmental decree, and tree clearing will begin in February, with full site mobilization scheduled for May.

The Mesgi’gUgju’s’n 2 project is a 102.2 MW expansion of the 150 MW Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n wind farm, producing clean energy and strengthening Mi’gmaq economic independence since 2016. This expansion will further enhance economic opportunities for the Mi’gmaq communities of Gesgapegiag, Gespeg, and Listuguj while reinforcing our role in the Gespe’gewa’gi renewable energy sector.

The Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n 2 project is expected to be fully operational in 2026, further securing the Mi’gmaq Nation’s place as a leader in clean energy. This expansion strengthens our ability to shape our own economic future, create jobs, and invest in community well-being.

This collaboration reflects Innergex’s “3 Ps” philosophy—Protecting People, our Planet, and sharing Prosperity—while fully aligning with MMBC’s core principles:

  • Wisdom & Integrity –Exercising sound judgment and ethical standards.
  • Harmony with Responsibilities – Balancing financial growth with social, environmental, and cultural obligations.
  • Transparent Accountability – Committing to openness and strong governance.
  • Respect for Roles –Fostering a collaborative and inclusive approach.

This is Mi’gmaq-led energy development, and we are proud to continue building a future that honours our past, strengthens our present, and empowers generations to come.
