Nunavut Day Contest Winners Announced

(July 19, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) In celebration of Nunavut Day, Nunavut Tungavik Inc. (NTI) hosted three online contests for children, youth and adults, as well as a CBC radio call-in contest for elders.

The Elders CBC Call-in Show Contest was held on July 8th and was open to all Nunavut Inuit 55 years and older. Elders were invited to call in to the CBC afternoon program Tausunni, co-hosted by Isabella Katorka and NTI Vice President Paul Irngaut, to share a funny story. All the caller’s names were put in a hat and 10 winners were drawn, each received $250 Prepaid Visa gift cards.

The online contests included a Kid’s Art Contest, Youth Video Contest and a Decorating Contest. Submissions were open to Nunavut Inuit from July 8 – 12, 2024.

The Kid’s Art Contest asked children ages 5 to 10 years to submit artwork showing what is special to them about being Inuk. All submissions were entered into a draw and winners were selected at random, they are:

Art Kit Winners:

The Youth Video Contest was open to youth aged 8 to 15 years and asked them to post a video singing or dancing to their favourite Inuktitut Song, with the hashtag #NUDay2024. Like the Kids Art Contest, all submissions were entered into a draw and selected at random. The winners are:

The Decorating Contest was open to all Nunavut Inuit, with first, second and third place winners in each Nunavut Region, and an Inuk winner living outside of the Territory. The theme of the decorating contest was Inuit Pride, and of the 47 eligible submissions, the ten winners are:
