Sault police to help train Batchewana First Nation officers – SooToday.com

Members will be paired for two months

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is partnering with Batchewana First Nation to provide training for new officers.

Starting Oct. 12, Cst. Ronald Dalton and Cst. Kyle Sayers will be partnered with a coach officer from Sault Ste. Marie.Throughout the two months of training, Dalton and Sayers will be supporting Sault police by answering calls for service in the city and Prince Township, a news release said.

“We are thankful for the support of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service to help our members gain valuable experience as they begin their careers as police officers,” said Sgt. Melanie Roach of the Batchewana First Nation Police.

Since 2012 the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has hosted six officers from other police agencies. This includes members from the Anishinabek Police Service, Batchewana First Nation Police, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
