“We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding talent of Canadian creators and artisans which include Denis Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe, Patrice Vermette, Shane Vieau, Stephen James, and Rhys Salcombe for their work on Dune: Part Two; Linda Muir, Traci Loader, and Craig Lathrop for their work on Nosferatu; and Julian Brave NoiseCat and Emily Kassie for Sugarcane, all of whom are recognized with nominations for the 97th Academy Awards. The Canadian co-production produced by Scythia Films, The Apprentice, also received well-deserved recognition with nominations in the acting categories.

“These nominations not only highlight the remarkable contributions Canadians make to our creative economy and to global cinema but also stand as a powerful testament to their boundless creativity, boldness, and pursuit of excellence.

“While we celebrate these notable achievements, we also want to acknowledge the devastating fires in Southern California. To all those affected, know that our thoughts are with you, and we offer our deepest support to the community during this challenging time.

“Congratulations to all the nominees, your accomplishments are shining examples that continue to bring great honour to Canada’s vibrant legacy in film.”
