Monthly Survey of Manufacturing, August 2024
Total manufacturing sales declined 1.3% in August, largely on lower sales of primary metals as well as petroleum and coal products. The declines were partially offset by higher production of aerospace products and parts.

Approximately 1 in 10 households had experienced some level of food insecurity in the previous 12 months in 2017 (9.6%) and in 2018 (11.6%). Prevalence of household food insecurity was slightly lower and was stable during the COVID-19 pandemic years (8.5% in fall 2020 and 9.1% in 2021) and it increased to 15.6% in 2022. Household food insecurity is an important determinant of health and a sensitive marker of households’ financial situations.
Capital expenditures on environmental protection by businesses, 2019 to 2021
Data on capital expenditures on environmental protection for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 are now available. The data present estimates on industry groups not covered by the Environmental Protection Expenditures Survey, which provides a measure of the costs incurred by Canadian industries to protect the environment.

New motor vehicle sales data for Canada and the provinces are now available for August. The New Motor Vehicle Sales Survey collects data on monthly sales (in dollars and units) of new motor vehicles in Canada by type of vehicle and by country or region of manufacture.
