In a social and economic context where food security is a crucial issue, community initiatives stand out due to their engagement and impact.
Today, we present an initiative that is flourishing among the First Nations and Inuit in Mashteuiatsh: The Maison Uashteu.
An organization at the heart of solidarity
Founded in 2020, the Maison Uashteu is a non-profit organization (NPO) that plays a vital role in supporting and helping the community. It was born out of an urgent need: to continue providing the services formerly offered by the Nimilupan Nitshinatsh cooperative and to develop a social economy component. Since then, it has become a true pillar of solidarity, offering concrete solutions to the challenges of poverty and social exclusion.
