Andy Warhol’s portrait of Mick Jagger, a harrowing study by Cree artist Kent Monkman, two abstract paintings by Quebec artist Jean-Paul Riopelle and artworks by Group of Seven members Tom Thomson, Lawren Harris and A.Y. Jackson will be on display this weekend in Calgary before heading to the auction block in Toronto.
The exhibit, which will run from Nov. 7 to 9 at Norberg Hall, will feature millions of dollars worth of artworks, although it is just a sampling of the pieces available at the Toronto-based auction on Nov. 27 by auctioneers Cowley Abbott Fine Art. There will be 30 pieces on display in Calgary, while 127 will be auctioned in Toronto.
