International Indigenous Cultural Exchange Concert

International Indigenous Cultural Exchange Concert Date and time Tue, Oct 7, 2025 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM MDT Location River Cree Resort and Casino 300 East Lapotac Boulevard Enoch, AB T7X 3Y3 Canada

About this event

Welcome to the International Indigenous Cultural Exchange Concert! The International Indigenous Cultural Exchange Concert at the River Cree Resort and Casino is far more than a performance—it’s a bridge connecting peoples, cultures, and generations. This special evening is the result of the self-funded efforts of the Nibun Chorus, the dedicated fundraising and preparation by the Taiwan Alumni Association, and the invaluable support of the Enoch Culture Department. At its heart is the Nibun Chorus, a youth choir from the remote mountain villages of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. In July 2025, they won the World Choir Games championship in Japan, proving that voices from the mountains can inspire audiences worldwide. Their harmonies carry the spirit of their land and the beauty of their mother tongue. Behind them stands Dr. Chun-Chih Chen—their conductor, mentor, and father figure—who has invested not only time and resources but also his heart, providing after-school tutoring, funding tours, and guiding his students toward a future they once thought impossible. This October marks their first-ever visit to Canada—a journey entirely made possible by their own determination, the Alumni Association’s tireless fundraising, and the warm partnership of the Enoch Cree Nation. It is a rare and precious opportunity for two Indigenous communities—half a world apart—to meet, exchange traditions, and learn from each other. The concert will unite Nibun ChorusEnoch Cree Nation youth artists, the Taiwan Alumni Choir, and the Hong De Cultural & Athletic Association’s lion dance and drumming team. Together, they will present an unforgettable program blending Indigenous choral music, powerful drum rhythms, and traditional ceremony. A special cultural exchange ritual will bring Cree representatives and Taiwan Indigenous youth together on stage, symbolizing mutual respect, shared learning, and lasting friendship. This event is not just a showcase of talent—it is a celebration of unity, a once-in-a-lifetime cultural exchange, and a testament to what can be achieved when communities come together across oceans for a common dream. 8th Annual First Nations Leading the Way Conference October 7 – 9, 2025

8th Annual First Nations Leading the Way Conference October 7 – 9, 2025

Don't miss the 8th annual First Nations Leading the Way Conference at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites & Conference Centre on October 7 – 9, 2025, in Markham, Ontario. This national gathering showcases First Nations at the forefront of expanding jurisdiction and highlights their success in improving their economies through greater fiscal independence, improved financial management, debenture financing, and sound land governance.

First Nations Leading the Way features insightful discussions and presentations by First Nations and Indigenous organizations about building better futures for our communities. It’s also an opportunity to learn more about the supports and services available to First Nations, Tribal Councils, and Indigenous Health Authorities under the First Nations Fiscal Management Act (FMA) and enjoy cultural performances, a tradeshow, and opportunities for networking and collaboration. Our hosts, the FMA institutions (First Nations Finance Authority, First Nations Financial Management Board, First Nations Tax Commission, and the First Nations Infrastructure Institute) and the First Nations Lands Advisory Board invite two (2) representatives from each organization to attend the annual conference. Reimbursements For representatives from First Nations, Tribal Councils, and Indigenous Health Authorities, we offer travel and accommodation reimbursements to attend. Up to two individuals per organization can claim up to $1,500 each for their travel and accommodation expenses. This reimbursement is intended to assist with the costs associated with attending the event. Youth and Elder Participation We are excited to once again extend an invitation to 25 First Nations youth (ages 18-30) and 25 community-recognized Elders to join us at this year's event. This is a wonderful opportunity for the younger and older generations to come together, share knowledge, and engage in meaningful discussions. To ensure the most efficient and cost-effective travel arrangements, we will be covering the travel and accommodation expenses for selected individuals based on the most direct options available. If you are interested in attending as a youth or Elder, please register to be considered. Due to the limited spots available, priority will be given to those who apply early. We acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples and is part of the Treaty 13 territory and the Williams Treaties territory.
For more information, visit: First Nations Leading the Way 8
