Agricultural Programs Coodinator
EcDev/Andrews Building

This position will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of all agricultural and land-based programs, including maple production, farming activities, and on-the-land camps. This role involves coordinating various activities, engaging the community, and ensuring programs align with the cultural values and sustainable practices of Curve Lake First Nation.

The duties and responsibilities of this position are:

1. Program Management:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee all agricultural and land-based programs, including maple syrup production, farming, and on-the-land camps.
  • Coordinate and manage daily operations of the maple production facility and farm.
  • Plan and execute educational and cultural camps that promote land-based learning and traditional practices.

2. Community Engagement:

  • Engage with community members to understand their needs and preferences related to agricultural and land-based programs.
  • Foster strong relationships with local farmers, elders, and other stakeholders to incorporate traditional knowledge and practices.
  • Organize community events and workshops to promote program participation and awareness.

3. Resource Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and sustainability of all agricultural and land resources.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources, including budgeting, procurement, and inventory management.
  • Develop and implement best practices for sustainable farming and land use.

4. Staff Supervision:

  • On-board, train, and supervise staff and volunteers involved in agricultural and land­ based programs.
  • Provide ongoing support and professional development opportunities for staff to management

5. Reporting and Evaluation:

  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and impact.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Director of Economic Development and Chief and Council.
  • Utilize feedback to make continuous improvements to programs.

6. Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols for all program activities.

7. Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant engagement, and feedback.
  • Prepare reports on program outcomes and impact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage program budgets and ensure financial accountability.

QUALIFICATIONS: (APPLICANTS MUST SHOW NECESSARY PROOF WITH APPLICATION OR WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SCREENED OUT)

Education & Experience:

The incumbent to this position will meet the minimum requirements that include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Agriculture, Environmental Studies, Community Development, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in program management, particularly in agricultural or land-based settings.
  • Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and traditional land-based activities, including maple production.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of and respect for Indigenous cultures and traditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet multiple and/or unexpected deadlines in a demanding
  • Experience working with First Nations communities.
  • Proficiency in Anishinaabemowin or willingness to learn.
  • Certifications in Chainsaw, First aid and Safety training.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a Full-Time Permanent position beginning immediately. Annual range for this position is $56,418 – $60,179 based on a 39.5 work week.
