Dear Participants, Families, and Friends….

RE:  Welcome to the 2025 Little NHL Hockey Tournament

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 Little NHL Native Hockey Tournament that is being held this year in the city of Markham!

It’s an honor to host this exciting event, where young athletes from across our communities come together to showcase their talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The tournament is more than just a competition; it’s an opportunity to foster friendships, create lasting memories, and celebrate the spirit of sports.

We encourage everyone to cheer for your teams, engage with fellow participants, and most importantly, have fun! Whether you’re playing, coaching, or supporting from the sidelines, your passion and enthusiasm makes this event truly special.

The Little NHL Committee works hard to create a fun, competitive, and safe environment for all participants along with many dedicated volunteers. A tournament of this magnitude has taken many months of preparation from organizing First Nation teams, to making team schedules, including the opening ceremonies. As a previous host of the tournament, I can detest that it is a lot of hard work. Miigwetch to all the Little NHL Committee members and participating volunteers that have made this tournament a success since 1971.

Over the next few days, we will witness incredible teamwork and the sheer joy of the game. Let’s support our teams with enthusiasm and respect, both on and off the ice. As we kick off

this exciting journey, let’s all aim for a fantastic display of skills and sportsmanship. Good luck to all teams, Miigwetch for being part of this special event.

Warm regards,

Chief Patsy Corbiere
